Students Learn to Make Overnight Oats at the Student Wellness Center

This week, the Student Wellness Center hosted a hands-on workshop that brought together students interested in quick, healthy, and budget-friendly meals. The focus of the session was overnight oats, a simple recipe that fits busy college schedules and supports healthier eating habits.
During the workshop, wellness staff guided students through each step of preparing overnight oats, from choosing the right base ingredients to experimenting with flavors and toppings. Participants were encouraged to customize their jars with options such as fresh berries, chia seeds, honey, peanut butter, and cinnamon. The goal was not only to follow a recipe but also to give students the confidence to build meals that match their preferences, routines, and cultural tastes.
For many attendees, the highlight was discovering how easy it is to create a nutritious breakfast that requires almost no morning preparation. Students learned that they can simply mix the ingredients, give the jar a shake, refrigerate it, and enjoy it the next day. With finals and long study sessions on the horizon, students appreciated learning a meal-prep option that saves time while still supporting their wellbeing.
Workshops like this are part of the Student Wellness Center’s ongoing effort to provide practical and interactive learning experiences that empower students to make healthier choices. By blending nutrition education with engaging activities, the Center aims to show that wellness can be fun, accessible, and community-building.
The event wrapped up with students taking home their own customized jars, ready to chill overnight and serve as a healthy start to their morning. Many left inspired to share the recipe with friends, try new variations, and continue exploring easy meal-prep ideas throughout the semester.
